Our Story

Skoons Hot Rods began in 2009 as a Father-Son team with a passion for working on and building hot rods, muscle cars, resto-mods and anything that could go fast and look cool doing it.  At first, we just built cars for ourselves.  The 1969 Camaro shown on our page was the first resto-mod we built together and then the 1929 Model A became our first ground up no-rules hot rod for us.  They were both built in a small 2-car garage at our house.

From there, things escalated quickly.  We built a wild 1964 Chevelle SS for a friend that was based on a C5 Corvette Z06 suspension and drivetrain.  We designed and built a full frame that used C5 suspension corners, brakes, ABS, engine, torque tube and transaxle.

This was the beginning of our path down C5 suspended cars and since then, we have designed and built several C5 based chassis and subframes for Camaros, C10's and other classic cars.

Fast forward to 2022 and several builds later, we decided to start developing suspension  components for 3rd and 4th Gen Camaros.  We started with a bone stock 1991 Camaro, stripped it down, scanned the chassis and started designing.  Our first IRS prototype worked well, but had some limitations that needed to be fixed before we would put our name on it.  After several design updates, a couple more prototype iterations and lots of testing, we are extremely proud of the system we developed!

Here at Skoons Hot Rods, we pride ourselves on building cars and products that are reliable enough for daily use and tough enough to be driven to the limit without concern.

We are continuously working on new products and hope to continue our C5/C6 based portfolio.  We are still the same Father-Son team, building everything in-house in Monroe, NC.
